US Water Recovery, LLC is a licensed and permitted physical/chemical wastewater pretreatment facility located in Mt. Holly, South Carolina adjacent to the JW Aluminum company. The plant accepts oily wastewaters, mostly from ships in the port of Charleston, and also from local industries and cleanup operations. The US Navy, NOAA, the US Coast Guard, and the cruise ship industry are regular clients of USWR.
The facility, secured by a 24-hour fence, stores oily water in 21 large storage tanks which hold up to 30,000 gallons. It is then treated by removing impurities and discharged into the JW Aluminum cooling towers or into the sewer system. After the oil is separated it is cleaned and filtered-- then used onsite by one of four melting furnaces at JW Alumininum. This used fuel oil replaces 10 billion BTUs of natural gas (a non-renewable resource) per month, which is normally used to melt aluminum.

Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For a time other than regular
operating hours, such as weekends, please call for an appointment.
US Water Recovery, together with JW Aluminum, has won numerous environmental awards from the Charleston Chamber of Commerce and the LowCountry Manufacturing Council.
The company accepts the following materials:
*Marine bilge water and cleaning water
*Petroleum tank cleaning wastewater
*Tank bottom water from petroleum storage tanks
*Wash water from tank cleanings, auto, truck and railcar cleaning
*Contact water, diesel fuel, kerosene, jet fuel
*Used oil
*Contaminated groundwater and stormwater
*Industrial accident contaminated water
*Discarded water from industrial, auto and truck cleaning
*Oils that are water soluble and emulsified
*Glycol
Other materials may be eligible for treatment upon approval of the laboratory on premises, upon the remittance of a sample for analysis. A profile must be completed by each client before submitting a sample, and a manifest (required by law) signed upon arrival to the facility. In addition, USWR requires credit application on all clients.
